The Protestant version Old Testament contains 39 books (as opposed to 46 Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox). Protestant churches dropped the extra 7 books which were not accepted by the Jews.
The Douay-Rheims Bible is a translation of the Bible from the Latin
Vulgate into English. It was the
first officially authorized Catholic translation of the Bible in English, and has formed the basis of some
later Roman Catholic Bibles in English.
The Tanakh is divided as the Torah consisting of (5) books known as the "Books of Moses" and the Nevi'im plus the "Twelve Prophets" and the Ketuvim & Megilot. The chapter divisions and verse numbers have no significance in the Jewish tradition, however they are noted in modern editions of the Tanakh so that verses may be located and cited.
